Ulysses S. Grant Bibliography

Since 1962, the Ulysses S. Grant Association has been preparing a bibliography of works about Grant. Unfortunately, due to limitations of time and staff, work on this project has been desultory and the product less than immaculate. The result, nonetheless, is now presented as a potential asset for anybody undertaking research. The bibliography is divided into four sections: the first books, the second articles, the third chapters in books, and the fourth unpublished materials. Of the sections, the third is perhaps the most arbitrary, and the fourth the most incomplete.

Now that the bibliography is presented, we intend to attempt to keep it up to date, and we also invite comments from users about errors, omissions, or any other topic, which should be addressed to jsimon@lib.siu.edu.

We regard this bibliography as considerably less than comprehensive, but rather as a work in progress, one that will be improved, we believe, through the assistance of many friends.
