(12/20/94)
This electronic edition was prepared by the CNI/AAUP Project Team, Library Affairs, Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. The 1967 edition, which is out of print at this time, was scanned and converted to Rich Text Format with optical character recognition software (ScanWorX), extensively corrected, and proofread against the printed text. Nevertheless, it is almost certain that errors have crept induring the process of conversion. We welcome your comments and suggestions.
This electronic version of Freedom of the Press, volume 1 has several advantages over the print version. The citations in the bibliography are now displayed in bold and the annotations in standard type. The index has also been reformatted to incorporate bulleted lists for easier reading.
In addition to format changes, the linking function in hypertext markup language enhances the user's ability to get around in the text. After a topic is identified in the index, the user clicks on the guide number and is taken electronically to the citation represented by that guide number.
Not all materials in the bibliography are held in Morris Library's McCoy Collection.
